Always remember that it’s never a hindrance to be the first person to apply, while regulations for the vast array of scholarships will differ, applying to these programs early will always be a great idea. Many grants and scholarships have deadlines so make sure that your application gets in sooner instead of later. Other programs will have a smaller number of people going for them but it’s better to be one of the few people taken into consideration than missing out on the smaller programs altogether. If you’re still in high school applying just before you finish your senior year is a great idea, it will open up more options for your future.
Try to identify your unique attributes. If you happen to be part of a group of people that’s able to get financial aid for your studies, make sure that you identify and use these unique features. In addition to that there are scholarships that are available only if you have certain skills, so by applying for these lesser sought after scholarships you’re really sidestepping the competition.
Finally highlight all your achievements academic or otherwise, if you did well in sports or in academics make sure to highlight these accomplishments and get your application in as soon as you can.
